Email: Jo is our litigation, resource management and local government team leader.
For litigation matters, Jo acts for a wide range of private clients, both individuals and companies. Jo’s clients are parties to claims in the District and High Court in relation to commercial disputes, estate litigation, breaches of contract, negligence and property related disputes. Jo can lead parties from the initial stages of a dispute through to mediation or defended witness hearings at Court. She has appeared in all courts to Court of Appeal level.
In relation to resource management and local government, Jo acts primarily for the Far North District Council managing all Environment Court appeals against the District Plan, Plan Changes and resource consent applications. This means that she is generally unable to accept instructions to act against FNDC. However, she welcomes instructions from other private clients who have resource management issues against other local authorities.
Jo is a long-standing Kerikeri resident. Her family has been an integral part of the community for over 30 years. After achieving high standards of education through local schools, she excelled at Auckland University in Law and Linguistics. She then sharpened her experience in corporate law firms reaching Principal status at Chapman Tripp in litigation fields. Her move back to Kerikeri in 2005 to become a partner at Law North was driven by her commitment to her family and the Far North.
Jo’s leisure time is spent with her family, running around with her two energetic young daughters and mountain biking the country’s best trails.
